Letter From The President

Parents and Players,

As the new President of the Dothan Youth Soccer Association I am honored to be a part of  DYSA and would like to welcome you to our website and share what is happing in our organization.

The board members that have proceeded me have left me with a very sound organization to work with and I thank them for that.  My goal is to build on their efforts anyway possible to grow interest in soccer throughout the wiregrass.  Since my induction in January 2005 I have strived to implement several improvements.

The Micro-soccer program was revamped in Spring 2005, even though it had it’s ups and downs, like most programs do in their first try, it was a great success.  The players had fun and walked away with some quality training and experience.  The parents and volunteers are the key to that program, the volunteer time and support they provide can not be duplicated and will help inspire the interest for soccer through each player.

A new program implemented in the Spring 2005 was the Junior Alliance Clinic.  The clinic was designed and administered by Craig Smith, DYSA Director of Coaching.  It is designed to develop ball skills and basic/intermediate soccer techniques for age 7-10.

My main goal is to increase the participation in our Premier Soccer program; this program develops the players at a higher level than any other program in the wiregrass. The coaches are selected and educated to give the maximum amount of training to ensure success.  The Premier Soccer program has elevated several players to the college ranks on scholarship.

Please browse the rest of the site and feel free to contact me via e-mail at webmaster@dysa.net for any concerns, questions, or information.

Thank You
Rich Thorne
DYSA President
